PAULA FERNANDA QUEIROZ (PQ) - Degree in Biology (Lisbon Univ. Portugal); Specialized in Palynology and Palaeobotany (Univ. Utrecht. Netherlands) with a PhD in Biology (Lisbon Univ.) – Ecology and Biosystematics. Her research activities: Historical Landscape Ecology; Palaeoecology; Archaeobotany; 3D Modelling and Videogame Development for Heritage (built & natural scenarios with Digital Contents Creation (DCC) applications such as 3DS Max, Unreal and Unity). Since more than 30 years, PQ has been active in Portugal on the creation and development of new research structures and disciplines concerning the study of the Portuguese Ancient Territories. She was co-responsible (with José Mateus) for the development of the "Laboratório de Paleoecologia" (LP) a research structure created first in the National Museum of Archaeology (Lisbon), transferred to the Natural History Museum (Univ. Lisbon), and, later one, to the Portuguese Institute of Archaeology (Ministry of Culture), where she was an invited researcher until 2009. Together with JM, she organised several international scientific meetings, participated in international consortia, and formed several technicians, specialists, and researchers in disciplines and technologies absent from the curricula of the Portuguese Universities. PQ was an invited professor of two Masters Erasmus Mundus (UTAD University and Tomar Polytechnic Institute). She is a researcher at the Transdisciplinar Centre for The Archaeologies (CTA / Polytechnic Institute of Tomar). With specialized training obtained in the Netherlands, PQ focus her research primarily on the interface between Ecology and Archaeology, developing disciplines almost absent in Portugal - Historical Landscape Ecology & Vegetation History, Palynology and Palaeobotany (Carpology, Dendrology, Antracology) apart from the more traditional Geobotany and Plant Ecology. Recently she elected Computer Graphics as the natural extension of computational disciplines previously mastered for Science (such as Numerical Analysis and Geospatial Analysis (GIS)); 3D Modelling and Videogames were adopted here as an ideal way to revive the memory of ancient territories and their inherent human performances. Since 2007 PQ was engaged (with José Mateus) in the development of TERRA SCENICA (TSc), and in 2014 (with José Mateus, Ken Rigby and Stephen Bull) of OLDTOWN GAMETALES (OTGT) - two private studios pursuing Cultural Production and Research on Heritage Sciences. PQ is founder of WR and a member of its Directory Board.
